Hey guys i really need some help trying to light my normal maps. Basically with just normal lights i am having problems with to much dark areas, and not enough global illumination. Ive tried creating a dome light but that just doesnt seem to work at all.

However using things such as the light tracer makes the skin look reallyt nice, but completely gets rid of the normal maps. Wondering if someone could give some tips on how to get some really nice light models with normal maps?!

Thanks

it seems like your problem has nothing to do with your normal maps, it's about your lighting set up. think of your normal maps as bump maps.

having too much darkness is a common problem with no help from GI. you will have to manually place lights here and there to reduce the darkenss.

and sorry I don't know what a light tracer is.
