View Full Version : Tips on 8.1 Installation trouble

Hi all,

several people ran into problems with the updater. It seems we will have to to a better job next time ;)

To install 8.1 please point the installer to the folder where the CINEMA 4D R8 executables are stored. Don't simply press OK in the installer but read what it has to say before ;)

If you are missing functions after the installation please install 8.012 (or 8.001) from CD with ALL modules and redo the update.
It is important to install the modules before the update, since they will be updated too and the old modules will not install in 8.1.
Also a custom layout may prevent some new functions from showing up.

If the problem persists please send a mail to Maxon support and include information on the system you are using.

There seems to be a problem with the PBlurp operator. Apologize for that, but we will do our best to fix it in short time. Sadly enough the only TP example that was included featured that operator. Talking about Murphys law :(

Sorry for the fuzz this created, but i think 8.1 is worth it in the end.

I would just like to say that there are some problems but I know they will be solved as are all the problems

I am sure this is worth the wait.

Shure they do :) The prob is They Do what THEY are Told, not what We thought We Told them to do :)

OK I uninstalled everything and then resetup everything backup but this time I did as srek said and made sure I was in the maxon\cinema folder and everything is now working correctly, including PBurp and the missing edge bits.

OK, I deleted the layout file from the prefs folder (thus no custom layout to start with), installed the 8.1 updater NO GO.

Now I give up and wait for MAXON (an updater to the updater perhaps;)

The annoying thing is that all those features are in the binary or dlls, I just cannot use them as the GUI parts are missing.
