View Full Version : Gary Rydstrom("Lifted") is directing a feature length animated film at Pixar
RobertoOrtiz 04-29-2007, 05:08 AM Rydstrom started down the traditional Pixar feature path by first tackling the short film "Lifted". The title of the movie he is currently helming is being kept under wraps.

Rydstrom's got an extensive background as a sound designer for many, many films, so I would encourage everyone who watches his stuff to pay special attention to the use of sound. You could definitely learn a lot from this guy.

Always multiple projects both short and feature length. But as a production gets closer to release I am sure a lot of resources get focused towards pushing it out the door.
I have a friend there on the developement side who's done some tool building for stuff that hasn't been (publicly) named yet...obviously they aren't talking about 'what' that tool is and needs to do. But apparently Pixar is thinking pretty far into the future all the time...

I just watched "Lifted" as an extra on the Ratatoullie DVD. I laughed so hard, right from the first clunk of his head on the wall. I thought the timing was perfect, the play on super-intelligent aliens, and the supervisor-recruit relationship all were conveyed so well, with no dialog. Highly recommended. I look forward to his next work.
