View Full Version : using reference in back ground question and opinion
Dark-Angel 03-12-2003, 05:00 PM i set up my referance pics on square planes and they seem to be proportioned after i tweaked them. but to use the ref pics i need to see throw my big ol box, so i went in material editor and made the texture transparent. but when i saw the result my big ol box became transparent but it was darn ugly. is there any way to make transparency little more beautiful, little more subtile?
and what do you guys do when you have referance pics in the back? how do you proceed and all? like me or a diffrent way?

I'm not sure that we are talking about same thing. When i use reference pictures in background, i really use them as viewport background images. Lock the pan and zoom, it works perfectly.
If you are using transparent planes with picture, you should have viewport transparency set to best. You know, R-clik to your window top left and set the transparency quality.

customize -> customize user interface ->colors
elements: geometry
There's that dropdownlist where you are able to choose freeze and then just change the colour you want. Don't know any other way.
Maybe that was too easy?
Don't forget to save your settings...

ooo how stupid i'm. I knew there's better way too.
When you look at your object properties, there is one checkbox called "show frozen in gray". What does that meen?
Ok. This was really too easy. But it's nice to learn something new everyday.
