View Full Version : connecting 2 verticies ! ??

this might sound strange

but how do i connect/weld/whatever 2 verticies of different spline curves / lines ?

weld doesn't do a thing except the verticies are in the same line/splien

fuse just puts them over each other, without connecting them

connect just works with end points...

i'd prefer a function like the "target weld" (which is described in the help, but nowhere when i edit splines - using max 5)

i dont want the second vertex to leave it's position when i connect another one to it

is there any shortcut ?

when i used animation master back in time it was just drag + right-click - e voila

I feel your pain.
Turn on Snap and make sure Verts are turned on.
Does a decent enough job for me.
If you have Surface in the stack and are working back in the stack, make sure Show End Result is off, otherwise it will only snap to verts in the mesh.

Attach your splines together first, then weld.

Select both vertexes-> right mouse-> collapse selected

no "collapse selected" in the right mouse menu ;-(

I'm sorry, that's my mistake. Didn't read the question too good. You want to "collapse" vertexes in a spline instead of an editable mesh. Ok, select both vertexes-> right mouse-> fuse and do as Stroker says, turn on the snap option when drawing the splines. Unless I didn't get your question the second time, because if you want to connect two vertexes from different splines (without attaching them to eachother) that's as far as I know impossible. You've got a screenshot of you're problem? Might be helpfull.

do what sledgeweb said

the splines are attatched, but still the verticies won't weld

i can fuse them though, but that does only bring them to the same position, not connect them... if i would want to move them around both without destroying the cage i must have soft selection on

Use Area Select instead of Soft Selection.

isnt there a way to melt them two verticies together as one!? that cant be
it's a normal thing to have 2 splines crossing in 1 point...

argh i dont get this

*will soon start drinking again* :)

click both vertices> look on ur side bar, go down a little incress the number beside selection, in the weld area, then cuse target weld or click selected:buttrock:

big bug here, maybe

what u say is the same the help file tells me
but the actual roll-out doesn't look like in help

http://www.lostlegends.de/edit.jpg

no target weld here

if i enter a value next to "weld" (e.g. 99999) it still says
"no verticies withing threshold" etc.

When working with splines, Weld is for two end points. That is, you can't Weld spline anchor points that are in the middle of the spline.

Use Snap.
Use Area Select.

running fine so far ....

it's just a little messy and loads of tweaking to get the model to really look smooth
