View Full Version : Fluid caching error
mandark1011 04-26-2007, 04:37 PM I am using a 3d container and getting weird caching issues. Its seems to be sporadic , sometimes i cache the container and it will work then i change some settings like density dissipation or velocity swirl, delete the cache then re-cache it and it steps through the whole sim then at the end the error // Error: Not able to access cache information for fluid 'fluidShape2'. //
i havent been able to discover why this error is happening, from all the tests ive done to try and reproduce it seems to just be a random occurance.
ANY HELP PLEASE would be greatly appraciated

There was a bug when cache files got above a certain size. Not sure if its ever been fixed but the symptoms sound the same. Try only caching the elements you need. Probably density, temperature and texture information

Yah i see that from what i can tell if your cache goes over 2gig it may or may not write..thats with single file seems to work with whatever size if you segment your cache but that wont work for me because of a post cache treatment.
Thanks for the reply

Thanks thats pretty much what i found out. Seems after some testing that anything around about 2.5 gigs for actual cache size its hit or miss whether youll actually attain a valid cache. I did discover an interesting thing i didnt know tho and that is you can cache as a single file, a cache file per frame OR you can also compartmentalize your cache by a number of frames. Seems like it will be helpful once im passed this time remap dealio we have going on here.
ARRRGHHHH fluids so much promise so many bugs. NFluids PLEASE!
