Hiya!
This is my first real post here on cgtalk. I'm currently doing my master thesis at a company in Sweden where I model/texture a character for a game. It isnt a main character, but I still wanted to come up with a short story about him and make that control what kind of person its gonna be.
The character is Fredrik Nilsson, he's a guy that spends too much time on the net writing a blog about his experiences in dream traveling which is his main hobby. He works as a security guard (which he got by a coincidence through the daily news paper) and loves his job since it makes him feel like a man.
I got a few more details but thats not what Im looking for crits on. What I do want crits on is, well, everything else. I want to learn as much as possible in modelling / texturing for games so just hit me with whatever you notice.

Everything is made in Maya, the head lowpoly mesh has been worked on in zbrush and uv'd in Unfold 3D. The rest is going to be edited in zbrush later on.
Thanks in advance!

Peter

Hey my friend! :D

It's looking good, you're coming along!

The anatomy of the arms are good, but you need to make them a bit thicker! Also I did a quick paintover of the head to illustrate stuff you can think of next time :) (check here (http://cgmonkey.u42.surftown.se/crit/pumbaa/paintover.jpg)) The main issue with the head are that the eyes are not following the eyeball.

Anyway, I love your concepts and I'm looking forward to your texturing ^_^

Haruuba Bear Boy!
Hope everythings good with ya!

About the arms, I really want them skinny, I'm not a pro at anatomy so I got to ask, should I make them thicker even though I want them real skinny?

Anyway, here's a quick update with modified head and vest, still in great need of c&c folks! Thanks!

I suggest you check up on anatomy cause the proportions are wrong to start with and the head looks very odd
He looks like an alien right now.
You could use pictures from 3d.sk for example to build your base character and then edit as you go.
Also the vest he is wearing is kind of plain and look like it has a meshsmooth modifier on it without defining the edges by chamfering them.

Aye, I know my anatomy skills arent the greatest and I hugely interested in learning it.. However, time wont let me right now. Hopefully Ill get some time over for it in summer!

The vest was imported as lowpoly to zbrush, Im learning zb, still ultra n00b hehe and I had huge problems with it. Not really knowing how to do what. Imported lowpoly and subdivided it a few times, modifying just small things.

Thanks for taking your time Dennispls

Yooo.. Why did you chose the name Fredrik Nilsson? He's a former ID-software animator which always makes me go "Oh someone is doing fredrik nilsson (http://cgmonkey.u42.surftown.se/id_fred.jpg) (click)?" when I see the topic. Although I'm not dissapointed when I see it's you..

Hehe alright, what kind of feedback do you want? I'll take it over MSN tomorrow. I have a couple tips that will speed it up for ya:)
