hi,

since a very long time our Texturing dept. is facing big problem regarding transferring UVs,

Maya's internal is crap,
I tried almost all scripts available on highend3d, including Pelting Tools, but not satiscactory results,

with some UVs are transfered and they looks OK on Texture Editor but when you select any single uv and then select shell , it will give weird results,

I tried to write a plugin too, which adjusts UV coordinates , but its not working well,

my Point is,
is everyone facing same kind of problem from UVs ?
if yes, then what do they do?

I want to write a full proof script or plugin , through which UVs can be transferred between any geometry(simple or complex),

any help or any guidelines will be helpful,

I am working on it, will post code when I will get somewhere?

What Kind of Maya are you using?
The uvtransfer upto v7.0 is crap indeed.

I'd strongly suggest to get 8.0 or 8.5 the transfer tools have been improved drastically!!

hi,

thanks for reply,

I am adding some snapshots to make this clear,

this is done in Maya 7.01

here is UV layout of source object(with show borders on in UV Texture editor)

http://forums.cgsociety.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=112662&stc=1

and now here is the destination object

http://forums.cgsociety.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=112664&stc=1

see the borders,

this is transferred through maya's internal polyTransfer,

even if I transfer with uv per vertex method by polyClipboard copy and paste,

the uv coordinates are looking fine but not perfect,

when you select any UV and do select shell or shell border its not perfect,

any idea , how to solve this?

thanks in advance
