Am I the only one who thinks these dark UI schemes are hard on the eyes?

I agree, LFShade. When this dark scheme was first introduced I thought it was cool. Overtime however I began to realize it was really hard to discern things on the gui. I tried to continue liking it but soon I was back to the default scheme w/ colored icons. Much easier to read and now I don't look like a wannabe l33t to others :)

I like KiboOst's idea of sharing the UI colors:

they switched to dark colors because most designers were not workin in well lit envirtonments which would make a dark scheme more pleasant to the eyes. as is my situation so i use it dark.

i also use the dark ui... i don't have any problems figuring out icons (until now ;))
i -think- i can work better with it, light themes somehow distract me from the views

Well, IMHO the dark schemes are actually good for the eyes, the dark colours are quite relaxing (for me). I use dark skins in every possible software, e.g. mIRC etc, and I really appreciate the fact discreet includes one in its products.
Charcoal interface is recommended because it improves color perception of video content.
says Combustion's manual and I fully agree with it. Obviously it also applies to 3d graphics and stuff.
