View Full Version : Claude Bonet problem...

I have been boning my model (stop laughing) and was having horrible trouble with CB. I would hide sections of the model, paint some weights (in green), and then when I would unhide the model, there would be some sections of geometry that would still be grey instead of white. What I have to do is then "repaint" (just using a 1 pixel brush) a section by clicking once, and then the whole model would be updated and turn the appropriate color with no grey.

anyone else notice this?

i actually find it easier to make vertex maps and then apply restrictions to my bones based on them than using the bonet tool at the moment.

one should also know that currently claude bonet maps are more memory hungry and slow down editor performance more. I still use them since they are quiker to paint

Boy did I run into this. It took me about an hour before I even thought about checking if any points were hidden-doh! I had hidden some on the model when I was working on it a few days before. I like Mocha a lot but I will probably stick to the restriction tags also.

It would be nice to have an "Auto-Assign" for bones. AM and Maya have it and basically it sets up restriction groups based on the proximity to the bone. you then can go in and select and deselect points to get the groups perfect since auto-assign isn't 100% accurate.

I wonder what the size difference is in a model that has CB and the same model set up with selection sets and restriction tags?

I'll look into file sizes later today. As for automapping, I'm sutre someone is workingon a plugin for it hint hint, and they do more then simply look for the closest point, they are a little more advanced than that.

I'm not sure if this is what everyone's talking about, but when I hide everything but, say, the leg I'm working on and paint, then unhide, the stuff I hid got painted anyway. What would be the point in hiding it if it gets paint anyway? Needless to say some VERY unexpected results the first time that happened.
