kuman 04-02-2002, 07:05 PM here's something i've been working on. wanted to submit to this months wip contest but i didn't start it this month. ugh its a long story dealing with my motherboard flunking out and my computer being out of commision for about 3 weeks. anyhow i thought i'd just post it here and get some feedback. let me know what you think. hope you like.

Wow I like a lot!... it has a lot of character to it... the one thing I might like to see is maybe a few of the roots bigger, and spread out more.. like a support system.
I really like it a lot too!!!
Great design and cool modeling... Now make them colorful textures! :)

Thats awesome! The detailing on the plant monsters heads is really good =) If I saw one of those irl I'd probably be heading for the hills!

FEED ME SEYMORE!!!
very cool.
I agree about making the roots bigger/extending them further out.
also, the leaves could use some tweeking... either make teir edges rough/irregular, or (better idea) shrink them, and add more. at the moment they seem a bit out of scale w. the roots. How big is this monster? the roots suggest it's tree-sized, but the leaves make it look kind of small-cat sized.
really great work. keep us posted!

This is awesome but I agree about the leaves. They need to be at least as menacing as the heads themselves! Really beautiful work.

Awsome design.
The leaves are a little to perfect, try and jack'em up a bit. and the heads are a little tooo...... instanced. Maybe move some teath a little (which are cool by the way), and push and pull a bit on the actual surface. And I dont know.... I kinda like the roots.

thanks for the positive responses guys
i definitely will go back and rethink the roots and leaves. gotta check out the root size and think about it, but about the leaves i totally agree.
i'll keep updating here.
thanks again.

Send that model to Ruairi and have him substitute that for the TV in 50% grey :D

Hi- let me say that your plant is an extremely creative idea and it's a great render. Could you tell me how you and other's acheive such a clear render? Is it some type of radiosity renderer?
Thanks-
matt

thanks for the comments guys
as for your question matt, personally i use 3ds max's catmull-rom filter to get edge enhancement. i also used final render for global illum and soft shadows.
i'm still not sure about the root structure but i've already started to remake the head without the big leaves and instead thorns and a trellis of vines with leaves
