View Full Version : still: Another try, "Fangs" finished
Well, i think ive finally finished my "fangs" adaptation to 3D. I hope that it looks acceptable and that i havent done any wrong to the original painting done by Blackarts! Also, please dont compare me with Stahbergs 2D > 3D work ;) :p
Any comments will be highly apreciated!

Wow, that's great! I really enjoyed the 2D art and this adaptation MORE than does it justice. Of course, to achieve the same look, you'll have to photoshop that sucker.
Anyway, looks awesome!

Great looking imaginative piece this -
May I make a couple of suggestions?
You seem to rely a bit on procedural textures - whilst that's not necessarily a bad thing, you could make the whole thing look a lot better by taking a bit of time to create your own textures. Texturing is an art in itself but since you've obviously spent a lot of time on the model, you might want to do it a bit more justice by spending more time on texturing too. The wings and the rocks stand out as particularly obvious examples of this.
The bottom of the wings look a bit haphazard for me too, but that's just personal taste.
Good effort!

tnx a lot for the comment! Yes, u are very right, procedurals were used rather heavily in this piece. I did texture the wall manually first, but i didnt really like it, so i decided to use procedurals alltogether. Also i did this because Squidinc always achieves incredible results while using procedurals and i was hoping they would work for me as well..I do realize very much that i need to start practising texturing in photoshop.
About the wings, they indeed seem a bit strange, i should have worked that out a bit more, but its just that i concentrated more on the procedurals. (i shoulndt have i see now!)
All points are definitely noted! Thanx!:)
btw, im glad u 2 took the time to comment on this one :)
Is there no one else out there who has anything to say about it?
I neeeed feedback!;)

Blimmin' Eck!
When I read my own comments I think I sounded a bit negative! If that's how I came over, then I'm sorry - I didn't mean to just cuss the piece. You've obviously spent a lot of time on this and I do like the whole energy of the picture its just the procedurals were bugging me a bit. Well, I can't say I'm great with Photoshop myself but I really think that textures can make or break a picture.
Again, sorry if I sounded too negative! Best of luck with any further pieces!
Textures can indeed make or break a pic, i totally agee with that!
Once again tnx for taking the time!
