What is a HYPER REVIEW topic?

This specific thread has been picked to be an educational thread.
The idea is that artists will be able to get feedback from fellow Artists
and will be able to perfect their technique.

Here are the general rule for this type of topic:

An artist who post their post their images, is expected to give at least ONE feedback on any artists who preceded them.
Artists CAN post revisions to their pieces. But is has to be on the SAME posting
and only the FINAL piece is eligible for voting.
Paintovers by other artists are encouraged.
The criteria for review should be along the lines of:

Composition
Theme
Color
Style
Anatomy
Technique

Bulling and smugness are not acceptable behaviors, so please keep the comments positive and informative. If someone steps over the line, please drop me a PM, ill take care of it.

These are the general rules:

You have NO TIME LIMIT for your sketch. IF you go beyond the assigned time limit , you have to post WHATEVER you have done after the time has expired, along with the FINAL drawing.
Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread. (Note this rule is void on a Hyper Review thread)
Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced. (Note this rule is void on a Hyper Review thread)
RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
They can be done on any medium.
If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
You can post an entry at anytime for the topic presented on this thead BEFORE the voting thread for THE WEEK has been posted.
The artist also has to post total length of time it took and program used.
Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
The topics will be picked at random from the list on the TOPICS thread >>LINK<< (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php/?t=145003)
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them).
Good Luck

I used a reference for this...not sure if that's cheating or not, I just thought it'd be good practice either way, plus I was more interested in getting the skin tones right

Be gentle, I just do this for fun :)

Hey there nblarson, very nice start. I would say you've got a good flesh tone but the whole figure looks too bright. From here I'd start adding in value and really bringing the three dimensional shape of the leg out. You've got it started with the highlights now expand that with adding in shade where it would logically go and it will really bring out your leg. One thing to remember about shading skin tones is that the shadow is typically going to be a darker, more saturated color of your overall hue. Well that's my two cents, hope it helps. :)

Thanks for the tip, I really appreciate it :)

Here's my meager attempt. 60 MN :(
The color came out much less saturated than what I was working with in photoshop. Any idea how to correct this?

I think it's pretty obvious what the reference was .
