View Full Version : wrap deformer spikes(not max dist)
Gemini 03-11-2003, 09:20 PM hey all, i am sorry for the constant questions but i am havin a hard time with this. i just applied a poly wrap deformer to my nurbs patch model. everything worked fine until i got to the head. when i applied the wrap to the head, one silly cv decides to go shooting out of the back of the head. i tried about 15 different values for the max distance and none of it seems to work(though i hadn't moved anything for max distance to have any relevance), and it is the same damn point every time. i am out of ideas. could really use your help on this one.thanks

You can try a different wrap deformer with that particular NURBS surface, see if the bug persists. You can try a different NURBS surface with the same wrap. You can try to delete history on the NURBS, if there is one. If it seems it's the NURBS that's causing it, try Rebuild, or even making a new one from scratch. If it's the poly, export it as DXF or OBJ or something, and re-import it. Or convert it to something else, then back into a poly. Also look in the Hypergraph, click Up and Downstream, and start experimenting by deleting nodes one by one. A lot of connections and nodes are kinda hidden, and some of them, like Blind-data, can cause problems.
edit: for anything but the BlindData nodes, delete the actual connections first, then the node. This usually seems to bake whatever the node is contributing downstream.

are there any overlapping faces in the area where the vertex shoots out from?
I've had problems with that before, and simply making sure the faces didn't overlap solved my problem.

boy was that wierd. after trying a bunch of things i ended up giving up and working on other things for the rest of the night. just for yucks, i decided to give it another shot today, and it worked. i have no idea what was causing it, maybe i just needed to give the computer a little break. i realy do appreciate the help you guys gave though.
Stahlberg: that is good info to know about as i haven't even heard of those things. thanks for sharing.
