Title: Corak The Hunter
Name: Philip Herman
Country: Singapore
Software: 3ds max, Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush
Hi all, This is my second post artwork in cgtalk.
I was recently contracted for freelance by Red Eye Studio to create 3D Art assets for their game title "Dark Sovereign" that currently in development.
And i was given permission to show what i have been working on.
So this is the first of many images and i will post them as soon as i am able.
They want the image to be liked Movie Poster, and i'm using references from Pirates Of The Carribean 3, Hellboy, Harry Potter etc....
His name is Corak, one of the main characters in the game. (the game have ten main playable characters)
Story Background of the Character
Corak The Hunter :
This amphibious creature lives only for one thing; the great thrill of hunting. His race is driven not by compassion or greed, but by primal instinct. He is a young warrior who has not passed his rite of passage yet. Each young warrior is to choose a prey that is worthy of hunting and bring its head to the elders council for the recognition of full warrior status. Full warriors are the only ones who have a right to serve the underwater empire. The failed or the dishonored ones will only serve the empire as civilians or even more lowly merchants.
This is the concept from them...

oke now thats a cool designe !
"Cool" is the right word for this work. love it! great work on the details.
Left horn of the creature and some parts on the right side of image are pure black so it disturbs the eyes a bit. But overall it's a beatiful work.

I modelled the base low poly in 3d max, and bring it to zbrush, so it have quite lots of poly...
after that i bring it to maya for mental ray render and do some post pro in photoshop...
Thanks
Great Job Phillip, best work yet! I might have recomended re-posing the forward arm/ hand a bit more dynamically - And maybe relying less on photoshop for the texturing and lighting paint overs in the future to allow for better flexibility to iterate.
Small crits though! Smashing.
Love the details!, the modeling and texturing really top notch, definitely 5 stars and frontpage stuff! congrats for this masterpiece

Interesting work. Ideally I'd prefer to see some hints of details in the 'dark' areas especially the upper right hand side. I find that area too dark (maybe it's the contrast of my monitor and it might be different from others). Perhaps, also, further refinements in the posing.. fingers, body...to make it more purposeful, and determined. Hmm something need to be done around the chest area too... but I might be nitpicking here...
Still it's great effort nonetheless.. you see stars........yeah!!!:buttrock: :buttrock:
