View Full Version : Good Space Ship Texture
E-rock 03-11-2003, 06:31 PM i have about 100 or so spaceships in my current project and i cant seem to find a texture that looks good on my spaceships. i was wondering if anyone has any textures or ways to make a realistic shader for a spaceship

theres lots of models here but alot of them also come with textures that might give you a good starting point

Are all the ships modeled the same? If so you are probably better off painting a good texture and reusing it. i don't think you are gong to have much luck applying a generic shader and making it look good. You need to pain in the details. If you do use the same texture on all the ships then if some are in the same scene together I would change up their texture just a little.

Well you can either use UV maps or you can paint a texture map and project them on. I would go for the UV method. How you go about this depends on you app. But once you get the UV's exported then you just simply take them into photoshop or your favorite paint app. and paint away. It takes a while but have patience the finial product should be worth it.

The tutorial is based on Blender, but it so symple that you should be able to do it in any program.
