View Full Version : Question: Fur
Bahlswede 03-11-2003, 03:36 PM I have created a head and have it animating with blend shapes. The hair and beard jump from frame to frame. I have read through the help files and still can't figure out what is the problem. Could anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

Interesting. Is your geometry NURBS or polygons?

Why don't you run a test of the same fur description on a NURBS surface going through some blendshapes, and see if (most of) your problem goes away.
I think when Fur was first added to Maya it only worked on NURBS, now apparently polygons with carefully enough mapped UVs are supported, but I've never heard if they are stable during blendshape animation or not.
You might make a "scalp" object that just represented the static polygons right under the hair, have the fur emitted from that, and just leave it hidden in the head but not a part of any blendshapes.
