Alright...

I've read the tuts...watched the vids...followed everyone's advice and I'm still losing the morph targets when I attach head to meash for animation.

What am I doing wrong? This is the process I'm using for facial animation...Please help!

1) Detach head from body.
2) Apply Morpher
3) Copy heads
4) Adjust verts for facial animation on copies of original head.
5) Everything works fine until I re-attach original head to body mesh. I know that you have to have the same number of verts but I've followed the advice given in this forum and it's not working.

What? You can't re-attach the head. If you want one seamless mesh, you have to use the entire body then. No detaching.

canim8,
I think you could put an edit mesh modifier on top of the body and then re-attach the head in the edit mesh modifier. That might work. Also, the steps you described above would have a morph modifier on each copy of your head, which you don't need to have -- just the mesh.

Mahlon is absolutely correct. When you reattach your head you have to make sure you do it with an edit mesh above your morph modifier then the targets will still work. Whenever you want to access your morpher just go down the stack and adjust it.

Of note, a good plug-in is morph-o-matic, which among other things, allows the morph control sliders to be on a floater. You can script an interface, too, in max if you don't want or have morph-o-matic.

Di-o-matic makes some cool little helpers.
