this is for my final design project, it took me 12 hours and 45 minutes of straight work in front of the computer to get this done (including render times). the assignment can be found here: http://facweb.cs.depaul.edu/sgrais/Project3.htm

the only borrowed art is the ps2 template, the genjuro pic, and the onimusha screens. i hope you guys enjoy:

hi 1st try array. it looks like a good effort!

ok u plan to print it right? if that is the case it will be cmyk and that means u have to spec it to cmyk and by looking at it the blue text will not appear as such. if u want to see if it is what it will look like printing... just do a cmyk spec in photoshop than u know what i'm talking about.

If u really want that colour than go special. meaning print another colour base on that luminous colour as the 5th colour.

I think the logo/font is way too meek. and the other part that is the leather? is a lil too washout.

The back part too can be enhanced. i think the layout of the text and the two box frame can be dealt with more dinamically.

My point is.... it doesnt tell a story. in packaging it should tell a story. It must say...buy me...or u will regret it!

ok lets go !

first at all , i don't think that the "code barre" on the bottom left of the back can be read by the cashmachine ... not sure,but ask ...

then the samourai is too sharp maybe some blur tool can improve it, and it will not give anymore the feeling of being put in the foreground , but "integrated" in the background

screenshots are not enough work ... maybe you can put a border with a samourai style.

about the front, the font is very special ... In my mind it doesn't match the game

and the metal is too clean ... the book seems old, but the metal is soo clean, soo shiny ...

sorry about my poor english :thumbsdow

hope i have not be too bad . :wavey:

very nice there array.

id personally like to see a pair of swords crossing under the title thing in the front, just adds more to the "sword" idea. id have to say that most great games incorporate pictures of the actual game onto the front of the box

Not bad. I would work on the front page text a bit, to pull it in to the rest of the artwork. good stuff otherwise.

- put more work on the lettering (all of it -> cover & back cover)

- like someone said the metal corners of the book are just too soft;

- don't put those black borders around the screenies, try to follow the style of the rest of the cover;

looking good :thumbsup:

The concept itself is a good one. I think you need to work on the details of the front to make it more eye-catching. I like the outside edges and the corner gaurds. But what you could try, is taking a b&w line art of some of the concept designs (like the sam on the back) and place it as a linear burn into the cover of the book. Like it is burned into the leather.. Also, the text is a little out of place. I think you might want to seperate the title from the center or even perhaps put it at the top, edged in white or something. Unless you want it part of the book. They might could try a linear burn for that too :) Looks like a good solid first go :D ::thumbsup::

Overall, its quite bad.

- The choice of fonts on the front and back is pretty bad, and the front type just isnt good. It doesnt correspond with the rest of the gold on the cover.

- The corner dividers should be all level and all shown, the ones at the top shouldnt be covered up, they should sit on the edge of the black strip.

- The black strip most definatly shouldnt be transparent, and I dont know what those sqiggles are on there, but they should go.

- The whole colour sceme is quite bland looking, and not really exciting looking, so if people were to buy that, the cover would have to represent the game well.

- The pictures on the back look pretty randomly placed, and also randomly cut out of the omnimusha box art. They should both be layed out in series, and both be cut neatly and put into a neat border that is the same for both images.

- Like I said, the typo on the back is bad, and should be a different font, it should also be smaller, but ALLOT clearer to read, because as a buyer of games, the second thing a person does after they've picked up a new game, is look at the back to see the pictures, and to read what its about. The punctuation of the text could also be better too, instead of using too many commas, make a few sentences out of it, and atleast make it sound some more intresting.

I hope these valid points of design can help you improve your cover.

i would not buy that game! but rarely does anyone buy a game based on box art, but the worst part of your composition is the cheesy stuff in the background , and the fonts need a little more work too , good start , just needs some fine tuning
