i notice somtimes the face commands like bevel or whatever have a maximum setting and wont go over that value....how do i get it go over that value....and why does it have this limitation and seemingly unpredictable moments?

I think when the bevel hits another vertex/edge it stops.

somlor is correct
tho due to a bug that came from an attempt to fix
other problems with bevel (which it did) it generated
some new problems
