Hi,
Im new to this forums and Im also a 6 months beginner to 3D world/Maya

I've been over and over, and over.. to do interior lighting with GI and FG with mentalray in order to acheive results like this :
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=109035&highlight=Rendering%3A+test+interior+lighting

But I never succeed. I asked alot of questions in other forum but none seem to want/be able to answer.
So I started a new scene and tried to light it up with a kind of 'natural light'. But I just cant understand how to set my light/render settings to fit the scene dimension.

Here's a few screenshot of my scene and I'm wondering if you guys could help me to acheive a realistic (at least acceptable) interior lighting.

1- Render settings + scene :

2- Area spot light settings :

3- Point light settings :

Well
Realistic rendering is not a simple feat. It not only depends on good lighting but good texturing and modeling. You have come to a good place here at cgtalk. Awhile back there was an excellent thread discussing these very issues: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=87&t=190232
