I wonder if anyone has the need for a new Material Preview Model?

Nice share, thanks.

If you pass on a file and they don't have the model,
will it show up as the default sphere?

I've considered making my own, but avoided it for the
fear it would display a blank material on another machine..

It will display as it, but if you render materials it will go to default, you have to move it if you switch computers
