View Full Version : MR: mib_ray_marcher node
stunndman 03-11-2003, 05:45 AM anyone knows how to properly set up the mib_ray_marcher node from within Maya ?
i have managed to render a ray marched texture in a cube - but the wiered thing is that the cube is totally opaque
what should i connect to the shader attribute of the node ?
that's what i've got so far

the shading network

basically that was just a wild guess - i managed to get a parti_volume shader to render properly and from there i tried to apply the same setup to the mib_ray_marcher node
the scene file - http://212.186.161.160/shared/ray_marcher_cube.ma

as far as i can see he is using the parti_volume and parti_volume_photon_node and not the mib_ray_marcher node

Hmm I give up.
I played around with your scene for a while then created one of my own using the 3D Crater texture (looked cool!) but transparency just doesn't seem to happen.

thanks for taking a look at it - sure the ray marching looks promising - i think i'll get the book on mental-ray to sort this things out
