View Full Version : Max 5: How come I can't get the track view in a viewport?
GRMac13 03-11-2003, 03:28 AM Hey guys, in Max 4, I used to be able to get the trackview to open up in my viewport by right-clicking the viewport name and choosing trackview from the drop-down. Now the only way I get the trackview ("curve editor") is as a flotaing window. I'd rather just have it docked in a VP tho, because my GI is getting a bit cluttered at the moment. Anyone knwo if this feature is gone? or did they move it somewhere else?

For some strange reason, Discreet took away the ability to stick trackview into a viewport. I suspect they figured the curve editor at the bottom would be sufficient, but it's just not. There is, at least, one small consolation - you can dock the trackview floater to the bottom (it docks just below the timeline), which at least gives you a non-floating version that can display the dopesheet view, and which contains all tracks rather than just the selected objects' tracks.

Thanx LFShade. Docking the trackview to the bottom is better than having it floating around. The only thing is that I had to move my left toolbar (I had a Cometscripts menu there). No biggie, but what the heck were they thinking by removing the viewport feature?

I've put in my $.02 at the Discreet web board to have the option put back in. I think others have requested the same, so we'll see what happens
