Title: The audience will listen 1990
Name: Gustavo Groppo
Country: Brazil
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop, VRay
Hello friends!
This is my newest 3d work.
The theme is one of my favorite guitar players: Steve Vai.
The idea was to rebuild his Ibanez JEM guitar perfectly, with all the details on it, such as the "EVO" name written on the body and the "konx" tape on the pick ups, the plant inlay on the scale and of course all the components.
As always a fusion of max and Vray.
I hope you like it and waiting to share comments.
cheers

truly awesome Image, like it very much, especially the textures.
My only crit is that you can see the facets at end of the whammy bar, it's a small thing to pick out of a great image.

Hey, nice to meet here some Vai fans! yeah, the evo. Initially was to be the "flower" patterned JEM, buti decided to represent EVO, I think it´s more traditional.
thank you guys for the nice comments!

Good job! Quality render, very realistic. But if you wanna reproduce the real jem you must include the scalloped frets, the last four!! ;)

Hi, really a baeutifull render and model, i like Vai too, but if i have to build a guitar surely i will do a chrome ibanez of joe satriani, i think vai's master desreve it !
Hi,
- bridge is wrong (look for pictures of LoPro bridge)
- some screws on the pickguard have wrong diameter and color
- last four frets should be scalloped
- Steve got straplocks on Evo
- locking nut screws have wrong diameter
- monkey grip has quite different shape, the top part is too big
- pickups have different screw shape and size
- neck humbucker is too far away from the neck
- middle single coil is too narrow
- there is a lot of minor proportion problems
While the render is really nice, the guitar pictured looks more like $20 e-bay knock-off than real JEM.

If my Steve Vai JEM were in that condition - errrrr.... ;) And I don't use plastico picks, I use stone picks (no wear or string cutting). ;;D
A spectacular render! Captures the real thing realistically. But hit the guy who owns that guitar for me, please... :)
Oh, and I agree with the nit-picks of mdee (but I'm not going to quibble).

Dat is one beee-you-teefull git-tar!!
Steve Vai is one of the best. I've got an Yngwie Malmsteen Strat from about 20 years ago. I've always wanted Vai's Ibanez as well.
Nice job!

Theres not much to say about this piece except that its simply amazing, the angle of your camera really sets off this piece, that and the detail you put into the guitar. One thing I can critique though is your wall textures i dont know if its just me but they look a little flat, other than that small detail you really pulled this one off

Very realistic render. Perhaps I would tweek a little bit some colours like the red tube or the green "mediator". But overall it's a nice picture. good job man :)

This is very good, I am learning 3d design and yours shows a mastery of the art. A couple things to comment on, if you want it more like the real Evo yes as someone else said the scalloping on the 21-24 frets, also the tremolo on this model looks like one of the first floyds that came out on the market and Vai uses the edge tremolo on evo that is longer and the place where you use the tools to adjust the saddles with has a lip around it on the edge. http://www.jemsite.com/jem/detail/f_tr_e.jpg 1 Final thing to give it that Evo touch, the pickups saying Evolution on them and on the neck pickup have it upside down like so. http://vai.com/Machines/guitarpages/EVO/images/large_images/electrnx_LRG01.jpg
These are just suggestions, I love this 3d rendering you did I am not dissing you ;) I hope I get this good.

Superb job! I'm a guitarist myself.. so I can appreciate how you got the nuances just right. The wear and tear.. and the pearly pick guard, and the various metallic finishes.
Have you shown this to either Mr.Vai himself.. or Ibanez? Perhaps you should do renderings for Ibanez especially their future guitars. Keep it up! You have tremendous talent! Steve Vai should give you a signed guitar for this tribute. Your next project should be Satriani's guitar.. or SRV's beat up strat.

Fantastic work! My only sugestion though is to blur the Background a little bit. The Bg (Especially that red pipe) takes too much attention from the guitar.

I love it! the attention to detail and the smooth and realistic looking surfaces, the lighting and background are flawless and the design of the guitar is perfect it looks just like the original. I like the touch that you added to it by putting it on a stand and the glossy metal effect gives it just the right touch to the artwork.

Great Job! is that a Tele knob for the volume control? I use a Tele Volume knob on my Strat, makes it really easy to do swells and fades.
I would imagine that might help with accidentally knocking the volume down mid-performance. That would be my ONLY grip about a strat; the ease in which that seems to happen to me.
