Hi, everyone. Earlier tonight a friend had a problem with rendering a displacement map in mental ray for Maya. Everything was set up properly. It turned out that the problem was the subdivision approximation. We had both the subdiv approx and the displacement approx (I've done that before, several times, and it worked.) The error message was something along the lines of this subdivision surface cannot tolerate another subdivision approximation. Again, it rendered without the subdiv approx. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever come across this, and how they fixed it. Preferably without losing the subdivision approx. If anyone has any idea what I'm babbling about, and has an answer I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

is it a zbrush displacement map?

Yes, it is a zbrush displacement map. All the necessary adjustments were made in Photoshop.
