View Full Version : Table cloth folding over Altar
marcopio 03-10-2003, 05:00 PM I am trying to duplicate a cloth over an Altar like the below image. Can anyone suggest a way to make the corner edges fold the same way. I have tried and it looks orrible.

There are several options, and I'm sure some of the more experienced folks could chime in with better advice:
1) Experiement with the tricky and fussy Dynamics plugin. Set up a plane as a collision object and literally drop the cloth on it and watch it either drape over the plane, or more likely, explode into a strange ball of polygons.
2) Use hypernurbs and model the folds by hand. Probably the easiest way to do this.
3) Find a model of a draped cloth on the internet, and hope it matches up!
If you need any help with the above options, just holler!

Thanks I will try out your suggestions. Sounds like the hypernurbs is my best way.
Try making your corner edge in a separate file then weld it on.Use a combination of rotating rows of points on the y axis and also on the pitch angle as well.Might be easier to first use an FFD to get a basic shape then model the rest of the folds,or you could make one fold and duplicate it a few times then weld them all together :)
good luck

I'd use a Loft nurbs.
