Im working on an animation on vector man (Sega Genises Robot Guy) and I have no idea on how to rig him. (IM TERRIBLE AT RIGGING) but If I ever figure anything out... I want it do be this.

-How do I get the rig to slightly jiggle when animated (like magnets... and only slightly)

it depends on what you mean by 'slightly jiggle' if you want the whole rig to jiggle then you can put an expression on the translation of its COG, but that will cause it to jiggle constantly. need more info. . . do you want extremeties to jiggle?, do you want an I/O controller for jiggling? do you wanna stop, then jiggle wit it. . . what, stop then jiggle wit it what.

Here... I Made a short video clip showing the jiggle. Its more so his breathing than anything. But I still want the individual parts to move.

Another Thing,

How should the base rig be set up. Joints system. or forward Kimatics. And How would I be able to set these up.

Sorry, dont post as often as i should. ummm there are several ways you could go about this.
I will offer the way i would take care of the problem which may not be the best way, but whatever.

create your joint setup, give your guy a spine, arms, legs ect

make your 'jiggly' extremeties dynamic by using maya hair and a spline solver ( this is of course assuming you are using maya)

create a controller for your COG and give the translation in YZ an expression like (controllername).translateZ = .3 * sin(time *10) to give it a breathy/jiggly motion.

the dynamic solvers should follow the jiggle but with an offset, so it looks natural.

hope this helps

Ive just been working on the Vector Man Rig and I ended up making a rig with individual joint connection instead of a skinning. But Im really crappy with controls, and the IK systems are providing to be a nucence. Eventually Im also going to need a hand rig for fists, palms, and peace signing. I really dont know where to go from here. Later I will add Tripple-I (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=70296) jiggle Idea in the end. http://www.dropshots.com/zoomin.php?userid=276830&cdate=20070503&cimg=0
