View Full Version : Animal motion study - Animation for critique
stoph 04-14-2007, 11:57 AM Hi everybody,
here's another shot I'm working on for my character reel. A motion study of a bear, supposed to be quite realistic but still a bit exaggerated.
I'd like to keep the model simplistic, but am not quite sure if it is presentable in its current state.

What do you think?
How's the animation?
What can be improved?
Thanks for your help guys!

That was really good man! The end part looks more realistic than the beginning, but then again the bear's exerting more energy to get up the hill. Sorry, I can't say how to improve it. Looks really nice!

Looks really good, but maybe its the shoulders moving back too far that makes it seem off when hes going up the hill. I agree that the ending looks more realistic, but you wanted it exxagerated.

i dunno i think i like the begenning more than the end. i like how the bears paws come way up before the go down toward the ground. this gives the guy some real weight. is this animation gonna be skinned later or just left at that? nice piece.

Hi guys,
thanks so much for your great comments!
I'm glad you generally like the animation and have some new pointers now on how to improve it. I agree that something does look off while going up the hill, I'll see if that's the shoulders or actually the head...
I'll post a new .mov once I finally get to work on it again! ;->
appreciate it,
