CGTalk - Rendering Problem

i am using Dell Precision(Notebook) 2.4GHz with 512 DDR ram. i can only render still image in 30 MB (A4 size), if i want to render larger than that, it will have memory error problem, is it my computer not enough ram or my setting problem? Please help! Thanks

could well be ram issue..

try using the command line rendering and render in several stripes.

try to find this doc
C:\AW\Maya4.0\docs\en_US\html\RenderingUtilities\Render3.html

down at the end there is xResolution and such, this think this is what you need, although i have never used them.
