View Full Version : prepping lowres for wrap deformers
Julez4001 03-10-2003, 05:18 AM Is there a tool to downres your hires objects that can be used for wrap deformers? I thought instead of recreating an outline, one could just deres the object to something nice..and hopefully something still made of quads.... not that it matter I guess.

Also when prepping your Hires.
Is Subdivision the best way?
I tried this and when I wrap deform.... the sub-ds object starting dragging behind-distorting.
Is Polygons with a Smooth Pass.. the better solution

if the parts of the high res model were lagging behind the wrap deformer, you need to modify the "max distance" attribute. you can do this in the channel box when you select a wrap object. if parts are lagging behind you neen to raise that value untill the lagging stops (but stil keep it as low as possible)
also using a wrap deformer on a smoothed poly mesh wouldnt make sense, as you can just smooth a low res model before you render.....
hope that helps,

So which is better.....
smooth onjects or sub-ds
What are the advantages of using sub-ds?

Thanks sedric I was trying to solve this problem this weekend. My solution was way too complex and way over thought.
