Title: My Dearest
Name: Kulbongkot Chutaprutikorn
Country: United Kingdom
Software: Photoshop
uhh...well, basically I (1) want to paint something Asian (2) am trying to not be afraid of colours, plus a display of care+love+tenderness etc. etc. . THis is perhaps the most saturated pic i've made. ehh. I almost cried at the embroideries!!! It's so frustrating!
done in Photoshop 7

Great patterns and color. I really like the look of the lanterns. I feel a since of love and tenderness, but also grief and sadness. It reminds me allot of the two characters in ''Interview with the Vampire" Infact, until reading your description, I thought it was a scene from that book. The skin tones seem a little saturated, but other than that, great work.

The colours are wonderful, I don't think you have anything to worry about there. The only crit I would have is the style of the girl, it seems much more simplified when compared to the adult, the style itself is good, but I dont think it fits with this picture.
Having said that, I do think it's an excellent picture, there's a secure sense, brought over by the close composition. Very good.

This is gorgeous! I think you definitely hit both of your ideas on the mark... It has a lovely feel to it, both in lighting and in subject. Also, I do so love the colors here.. Everything is very saturated and vibrant- yet you got it to feel very serene and quiet. Great job! I especially like the full size version.. Wow, just... I can feel your pain with all the fabrics, but they look amazing! But I have to agree with FarDays- it's not that the style of the girl seems off.. it's just that, to me, she seems to be lit differently than the man. He's got lots of nice blues in his shadows that tie him into the image, but the girl's face seems very bright, which flattens it out.
Either way it's a lovely piece. I especially like all the thought you put into how the shadows fall from your light source.. the shadows of the man's fingers on the girl's head.. now that's beautiful. :)

Fardays: thank you so much! it's really sweet of you :D..your comment's made me grin from ear to ear !
Del: hello! good to see you coming over to my thread too ;)..heheh. indeed it is true the girl is lit differently. I had originally planned to be two light sources, one from the topleft(the lamps) and anothe rone from the bottom right, and since the girl faces it i lit her up accordingly, but i thought a strong bottom right lightsource looks ridiculous so i have desaturated it considerably, and the end result is like this :P

Ah! Well that definitely makes sense. I think you made a good choice- the secondary light source is nice like this.. where it's just a bit of light blues over there so they don't fall too into shadow. It's a beautiful work! :wise:
