View Full Version : rendering Animation by v-ray
ErshadRahbar 04-12-2007, 06:28 AM hi dear friends
i have question about V-ray rendering in animation scene
i render my dynamic scene with Irradiance map for pri bounce and light cache for sec and my setting in irradiance map :
preset : normal Animation
hsph. sample 50
interp. sample 40
interpolation type : last squares w/ voronoi....
sample lookup: density based
mode : single frame
and light cache :
subdivs : 2500
sample size :10
scale : screen
number of passes :2
cheak direct light and pre_filter=10 filter : nearest =10
and cheak use light cache for glossy rays and single frame for mode
and QMC : adaptive amount: .85 min sample =6 noise threshold: .001 and Global sub..:1
but when in final render i see the flickerig in GI layer
i dont no my seting is wrong or rendering animation by v-ray have different method
please help me about this problem
by kind regards

finalrender it has flicker free animation and it REALLY works!! do yourself a favour and get rid of vray its a pain when it comes to animation, ask cebas if they have any kind of side upgrade options ,all vray is good for camera fly throughs and pretty stills and sleepless nights worry about flicker

THANK YOU
AFTER I WORK BY V-RAY I RENDER MY WORK BY FINAL RENDER S-1
BUT I NEVER RENDER ANIMATION BY FRS-1
I TEST THIS BUT I SEE SO MANY WORK RENDRED BY V-RAY AND DONT HAVE ANY flickerING AND NOISE IN GI
AND THE NOTE THAT V-RAY IS FASTER THAN FINAL RENDER IN COMPUTE GI

well all i know is animation in finalrender 2 works
GI in final render 2 is just as fast as vray
yes i have seen lots of animation in vray to, how did they do it?...lots of comp layers and brute force settings maybe and know vray inside and out
but if you just wanted to render a animation (and not worry about what other people are using)you can and play around with vray settings all day and night, with FINALRENDER animation its just 2 buttons away
i've seen it in action and will be getting me a copy as soon as i get my money
FR2 seems more of a creative render
vray is more tech

If you are using irradiance map, you have to uncheck the "radomize samples" button:)

Don't use irradiance caching for dynamic scenes, use qmc gi for primary. Plenty more info and tricks on the Vray registered user forum.

hi my dear friends
thank you but 2 questions
1: if i use the QMC my render time be to long about 15~30 min for each frame
and i think it is unavailable time of render for each frame
in v-ray help online say thet we can save the light cache (Fly-through) and then coput the irradiance map with the light cache (saved) for each 10 frame and finally render the static scene with this saved bounces for the back ground layer and for dynamic object render with fade sphere with high preset and high value for all bounce
but ..... i think it's difficult method
2: if i uncheck the <<radomize samples>> in some time the final frame have a little box such render region box
sorry for my english
by kind regard for my all freands

qmc is the way forward, or pre calc IR maps every 10 frames if objects arent moving, i.e for backgrounds, render in a layer, then use QMC for moving objects with some mattes, then comp together.
there is a great forum at chaosgroup website, if you have problems then post there. you will need to email support to get access to post.

Hi dear TIMa questions : wath is the normal (avrage between a highset time such as detailed scence or long shout scene and lowest time) render time for each frame in animation

PAL res renders, with no moving objects, around 15 mins.
PAL res renders with moving objects probably 30-45mins
HD res renders 1hr to 2 hrs a frame.
thats why you will need a renderfarm! :)

or you could use cheaper alternatives like vrayDirt, compositing of rendered scenes with static/baked GI and moving objects with animated GI, carefully positioned lights, etc, etc.

or you can bake the textures in an high definition (if they are no moving objects) and then render in scanline:thumbsup:

or one questions ...?:)
this time for local or net render if local how about the net render

local and net render will be nearly the same. net render uses less resources, as Max wont be open fully, so will gain a few seconds here and there.
as mention there are other options, AO passes are useful with standard lights, but you will need a full compliment of layers to get a good result. Baking textures is time consuming, and requires all materials to be at 100% illumination, which causes all kinds of problems if you then split stuff out for passes etc, plus you will only be able to render with standard materials.
bottom line is. more detail, more GI, more objects, longer rendertimes. no way around it. unless you remove your reflections, manage your scenes better, cut down geometry, render in layers, use proxys etc. there are many ways to optimise. rendering on one machine is time consuming. thats why lots of home users produe stills, as rendering lots of layers requires a renderfarm.

thank you so much for ansering my question
wath is the layers render .that is render all element in different layers such as GI or Diffuse or shadow or that is different method in rendering
and iare the layer rendering equal to occlusion diffuse
can i edith the flicker GI layer in layer rendering
and after layer rendering how can i composite them
thanks and sorry for my english
