Hi,
quite some time ago Digic Pictures released a teaser for the game "Warhammer: Mark of chaos" which I found pretty impressive even though it is not very long - if you strip the text intro and the "credits" only 16 seconds of action are remaining: a few orc-like characters are attacking a evil ugly looking giant - obviously without any success. Maybe because of the short duration of the trailer I thought: it could be quite a challenge and a funny project trying to "rebuild" this trailer - replacing the original characters by some build-in figures from the C4D package: Meg is now swinging the mace instead of the giant defending the attacking gnomes starring by Otto, Mime and Woody. I just wanted to replace the pictures and reuse the soundtrack - so I exported the sound and saved the video as a picture sequence.
Afterwards I prepared the new C4D actors: texturing, rigging, skinning, equipped them with helmet and weapon. Meg got hair, a very basic skirt and at least a little cloth for the upper part of the body. After the character were ready for animation I tried to rebuild the camera movement and looked for the proper timing in order to match the original sound to the new pictures.
Of course it was kind of overkill to put big effort in characters who are shown only 16 seconds - coupled with much fog, dust, shaky cam and motionblur, but I was aiming for the fun (... which I had ...) and some lerning effect. And who knows ... maybe it's not the last performance of the "Maxons" in a trailer ;-) At the end I'm glad that I could complete this fun project.
You can view the original teaser at digicpictures.com - this is the link to the according window:
