View Full Version : Tech Help: Rebooting when trying to startup Max 5.1

I just bought 3ds max 5.1 and followed the installation instructions that were given in the manual. My problem is when i tried to startup max it reboots the computer. I went into the start menu and tried to change the graphic settings and the same thing happened. I think it's a problem with dx. I ran dxdiag and checked which version of dx this computer is running (dx 9.0 :hmm: ). I found a patch in their support forum for dx9 but it also requires a video card that is dx9 compatible (ie a card i can't afford).

PC specs
p3 733mhz
all in wonder radeon 7500 (latest drivers)
512mb SDRAM
XP pro
directx 9.0

Well, after reading through to many tech support files i *finally* figured out what was going on. Apparently if you have Mcafee running when using max it causes the computer to give the blue screen of death (or in my case, reboot). Thanks anyway.
