Hello,
I am having trouble modeling areas like the one I circled in the attached picture. I am Modeling using Polys, and always seem to have trouble on rounded edges. Are there any suggestions, or methods anyone can point me towards to get a better looking model? (Turbo smooth looks ugly) Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

Regards,
Yag

P.S. Sorry, when I originally posted this message I completely forgot to add the attachment. Sorry.

not sure if this is what you wanted, also I am assuming you are doing it in maya

this is the area which you said you had problems

now select "edit polygons>spilt edge ring tool" and start to click on the sides of the edges
(note: you can use the spilt polygon tool to create the edges but the spilt edge ring tool is faster)

Keep on adding edges until you get something like this, the reason why you add edges close to the edge of the model is so you can define it, look at castle modeling tutorials to understand it better

smooth it

Yes. Most methods for poly modelling will work the same way in all apps, it's just the names that differ.

Well, I'm having to model the whole thing again, but no big deal. Thanks for all the help, it's looking 100x better then it did!
