Title: Interior Metro Tianjin/China
Name: Karsten Angermann
Country: Germany
Software: After Effects, Maya

This image is taken from an animation we did for a design studio in Berlin/Germany. It shows the interior of a metro train, which was designed for the city of Tianjin/China. The trainstation was created inspired by the architectural work of Santiago Callatrava. The train was modelled from a couple of blueprints and designsketches.
We tried to catch some kind of realistic lightning to give a good feeling of the space inside the train. To keep the deadline of this project, we had to bake the whole interior to speed up the rendering of the scene.
All in all it took 2 1/2 weeks within modelling and rendering for a 60 seconds presentation film (2 guys working on it).
Modelling, Texturing, Lightning, Rendering was done in MAYA. The compositing of the animation we did in AfterFX.
Notes are welcome!

Hi, i love metro train. Light is good but the floor seems incomplete, maybe i prefer another texture. Anyway, good concept. Hi :)

Yeah the lighting and modeling are spot-on!

I agree the floor is too bland. My input would be the reflections on the seats; they are too perfect. Not only could they be blurred slightly, but the plastic itself should have slight bends and warping so reflected lines are not perfectly straight.

Good work!

Good work! It's kinda refreshing seeing a subway car not all dirty and full of graffitti, i agree with the floor it still looks like a standard material. Maybe if you put a bump map of some sort to break up the scene a little that would help, lighting and render look great though/

Hi there,

thanks for your notes and ratings. The floor seems to be a problem... ;) There is a texture on it but it is very hard to see in this resolution and jpg-compression. The designer of this train decided about the coloring and the materials. The floor should be some kind of slightly polished linoleum - gray with light gray flakes (amazing, isn't it).

Well, i like the whole scene, i like the floor that was said to be incomplete ( i think that there is a real life material similar to plastic that is matte and anti-slip so i don't really see why does everything that won't reflect or tile be incomplete), i also liked the reflections on the plastic seats just because they look great (again i see no need to make a blurry or bumpy reflections just to say that you did).

so, dont listen to the disgusting photo guy and...
LEAVE IT THE WAY IT IS , I LOVE IT.

Almost perfect(5 stars though). One could mistake it as a photo if it was not THAT clean.:) I would like to see a little more dirt, scratches in the seats etc....

....Yes, I know, your intention was to design the train, so scratches would have been not so lovely :)

But nevertheless, it is a fantastic work!!
