Does anyone here actually practice drawing straight line and circles frequently to maintain their drawing skills? I just started drawing not long ago, and I watched the DVD about perspective drawing by Scott Robertson and I realise the importance of penmanship. I pick up drawing free hand straight line and connect fix points in space pretty quick, but I find drawing circles really really hard.

I find learning this skill is like pushing a ball on a uphill road, and a very steep one. I stopped drawing for a few days and I get very rusty already, sometimes makes me very frustrated

Do you guys think I am wasting my time? or should go on?

Using this drawing practice method is very beneficial. I used to spend 15 minutes a day drawing straight lines and circles and another 15 to 30 minutes sketching from random image reference (people, critters, cars, vistas, etc.). I need to get back into this habit. The lines and circles practice really helps if your using a tablet with Photoshop, since you can't rotate the canvas to accommodate those habitual limited arm and hand drawing motions we fell into spinning paper around.

Practice, Practice, Practice— It's a good thing
