View Full Version : Shadow and mesh issues.

Ok. I've attached two images. One I rendered in Carrara (as labeled). One is rendered in messiah (also labeled).

Carrara used a directional light with a large area size to create a soft shadow. The mesh rendered fine and imported fine.

Messiah used a spot light with a setting of 8 for shadow quality. For some reason two things are cropping up in messiah. First, the mesh is importing with an appearance that looks like artifacts from flipped normals (see image). Second the shadow looks completely off and makes no sense.

I've included the object file in this post (zipped). I'll make another post with the .fxs file.

Ok. Alex on IRC pointed it out to me. Simple thing in render tab. Just click double sided. I also found deselecting smooth to help me with this specific model.

I find that changing your smoothign angle helps often too. Depends on the model but you have to play with that for any sort of mechanical model 60 is often a good setting but depends on the model.
