View Full Version : 3d shooter navigation?
nukee 03-09-2003, 08:01 PM Just wondering if there's a script for max that could give you navigation controles in max similar to that which you would find in map editors and 3d shooters. It would be really nice to just be able to kindof fly around in max when doing fine detail and when trying to edit complex and dense areas of a mesh.

You can get by once you learn the 'secret' navigation commands which are oddly undocumented. At least I never saw them mentioned in the help.
mmb=middle mouse button or scroll wheel held down
mmb=pan
alt+mmb = rotate
ctrl+alt+mmb = zoom
wheel = zoom in big chunks (wish this could be customized)
and the less useful:
ctrl+shift+mmb = pan restricted
alt+shift+mmb = rotate restricted
Unfortunately these don't all work with cameras. If anyone knows the equivalent of these for camera's I'd like to know.

secret navigation commands? undocumented? I've known all of those for a long time and im pretty sure I read it somewhere as I dont usually mess around with the mmb or alt...
anyway, i think hes talking about something along the lines of w,s,a and d, like forward, backward, strafe left, and strafe right...
I agree with him, that would be pretty sweet, im sure theres a way to do it.
