View Full Version : Some newbie problem!
JonasNoell 03-09-2003, 12:59 PM I just downloaded the trial version of 3dmax, and liked to check out some tutorials. I downloaded version r4.
Where can I find the http://www.gfx-scene.de/tutorial/max/gras/img/edit_stack.gif Edit - Stack button? The tutorial (which is in german) told me that it is in the modifiers tab, but there is no button like this.
This is my modifiers tab

I already asked some friends and searched the manual but couldn't find any answer. I found an image in the web that showed the button, but how can I come to there?

Hope someone can help me ;)

On the lower picture the UI uses a minimized stack interface, this is not default from what I know and the edit stack button seems only to exist in that "minimized mode".
Try right clicking at your stack and you'll be given the same options as the "edit stack" button...
It's in the minimized mode since you cant rightcklick a dropdown list.

Uh, the top pic is v4.x. The lower pic is v3.x.
I don't think there is a way to "make v4 look/act like v3" with regards to the modifier stack.

Yes, the upper pic is r4. I don't know exactly what is the lower pic, because I found it in the web while trying to find images showing the edit stack button.
Where has this button moved in version 4.x ???
Anybody knows the answer?
Egyt: On what exactly do I have to perform the right click? What exactly is the stack where I have to do a right click on. Sorry but I only use max for some hours now and try to find the answer ;)

What is the tutorial telling you to do with the edit stack button? Is it telling you to "collapse the stack or change an object into an editable mesh'.
With regards to the tutorial you are reading, what version is it using? Max 3 or 4? Until you get more familiar with Max you might want to find tutorials just for Max 4

Red indicates your modifierstack.
Blue indicates where you can click (example).
Yellow indicates the options that will appear.
(max 5)
