hi everybody

this is my fist post on this fantastic forum, where i alxays see incredible 3d and 2d art, wow.
here is zealote, a mix of a gobelin, a imp and a gnomist (i don't know if imp and gnomist are the right words).
i've started this model in november 2002, and i worked on it on my free time.
at start this creature has a cartoony look, but i finally wanted to look him more realistic.
my goal is to make a photorealistic model.
but i speak too much, here is the pics :)

http://perso.numericable.fr/~clagirin/images3d/zealote

i wanted to gave him the look of a rodent, like a small mouse, with a tail, and some incisors, i also wanted to give him some lemurs eyes.
all done in max5, and vray rendering.
and here are some colormap tests :

http://perso.numericable.fr/~clagirin/images3d/zealote_colormap_01

and oh, i am sorry if my english is bad.

Hey mansig

This character is very cool and cute looking. I like the detail of the mesh? Are you gonna plan on doing some animation?

Great model alot of detail showing. no crits really. btw just wonder, you are planning to weld the verts in the middle of the character to get rid of that seem.

Firstly, welcome to CG Talk

Secondly, what a great character! :D

The only problem is that he still has a visible seam down the front of his face...

Otherwise, really nice modelling! I especially like the stitching detail on the leather hat thing - very nice touch :)

thx everybody!
pitiwazou: thx !
neolee40 : i don't know yet if i 'll gonna animate him, i need to learn animation first !
xasteycracker: yes, i think i 'll gonna fix it  ;)
leigh: that is because i don't weld the two part of the mesh together ! :)
aros: there is no texture on the eyes, i model the pupil with the crystalline lens (is it the words ? ).
hexodam: i 'll post some wires soon..

no comments ? no matter. :)

here is the concept i've made before starting the model, he looks a little more cartoon on it, i want to say that i didn't want to be completly faithful with that picture.
the black strip on his face is a tattoo, i don't know if i'll keep it, tell me what you think guys.

hmm, very cool mesh :)
i think it would be good to add more detail to the skin texture.

greets Picster

edit:
can you tell me more about how you created the eye ? THX :)

mansig

tomb : thnx dude !!

picster : hum for the moment there is no map on the model, i am actually unwrapping the head, then i'll texturize it.But don't worry, my goal is to achieve a photorealistic model, so the map will be high detailled.
for the eyes there is not a lot of thing to say,
there is the "outer", the cornea, wich made some refraction (vray refraction), and the inner eye, with the iris and the ocular sphere, and i also modelled the pupil and the cristalline lens.
the material is a 3 ids multisub object map, the iris's one has a big colored specular.

here is a picture to explain you what i mean :

Great attention to detail... doesnt look too soft, like baby skin, but more rough like dwarfy skin (good job!) cant wait to see more...
keep us posted! Cheers!

Such a wonderful character. Really grabs the attention and imagination. The teeth are great. If anything needs tweaking maybe his body contours need softening in certain areas, like Gremlin suggested. Looking forward to seeing his development.
