Title: Ghost in the Shell painting
Name: Egil Paulsen
Country: Norway
Software: Photoshop
Fan art inspired by the movie Ghost in the Shell (1995) all respect to Mamoru Oshii and Masamune Shirow for their great inspirations.
Painted during some free time just for relax and nostalgia. I was very impressed by that insane scene where Motoko fights this large tank.
I've played around with coloristic ideas, hope you not get too offended by them.
I know its a detailed film, so I tried to keep up with that. This was really a tricky piece for me, but I've had fun with it.

I have yet to see the movie! I was late introduced (kinda) to Anime, even though I've seen most of Hayao Miyazaki's works and some Anime series. My friend told me that Ghost In The Shell is a must watch, however. :)
Critiques:
1) Focus: The purple pillars really establish a strong focus on the character, but the strong light from the tank makes me constantly switch back and forth between the two. That might be a good thing, considering this is an action scene. I'm not sure...
2) As I've never seen the movie, I can't really tell what the floor is. It looks like water, and yet the tank, the car, and the character are all stabilized on top of it.
3) I think her left leg could be distinguished a bit more; right now, it's hard to define the positioning of it.
Great action scene! :)

Ninetales. Thanks alot :)
1) Glad it worked, because I had problems with getting the focus towards the main character, but still be in cover. Inspired by Josef Albers, I've tried to make this vibrating feel to the composition, which makes your eye react and (hopefully) get an optical effect. well
2) The ground is covered by a few inches of water in the original scene.
3) i'll check it, thanks for the sharp eye :)
oooh, closeups for the ppl!

I had a hard time trying to relate the machine to tha character. Maybe some light traces due to firing would help. Overall, very nice job!

The only thing i would change is lower the googles/mask/however they call that ting., because i get the feeling it barely covers eyes, yet I might be wrong and everythings fine.
As for the scene itself, great one, just like it was in the film.Yet as gits fan I would be even more glad to see motoko owning things rather than being almost cornered :)
Keep up great work

I love the movie and Masamune Shirow´s work in general. Your piece is so different from his style, this makes it even more interesting. I get the same feeling from looking at your art as i did from this scence in the movie- the breaking columns and the dark mood. I would love to see you draw the part where she rips off the tanks hatch... You relly ought to give that a try. I understand the comment about the goggles, but overall this picture is wonderful and a prefect tribute to GITS. Keep up the great work!
