Been working on and off with this for a week now (wow, kids and work really DO take up alot of time) and I feel im getting close to finishing this up. I would like to get a few Crit's from the fine folk that lurk these boards to see how I can improve upon this picture.

Thanks alot for helpin me to improve my art!

Really nice I like the loose brush strokes. The only thing that flattens the feeling of space is the dark black-looking areas. Other than that I think it looks really complete.:)

this is nice, I like it. it bothers me a little that you have black borders around some of your edges in the back, I think you should reduce that. also the archways on the left do not look quite real yet, so I would suggest letting the light come into them enough that you can show that they are real with lighting. as for the dark areas, a good way to bring out depth there would be to add detail in a subtle purple/maroonish tone

Wow. That's very serene and pleasant to look at. I think the white sky is a bit too strong in contrast with the shady indoor environment though. Maybe making the transition a bit smoother by blurring the edges of the structures, or adding some subtle greys or blues into the sky?

Well, here is an update. I think I hit a few trouble spots.

I think I'm about done with it though. I would like to figure out a way to get a little more dramatic lighting. but I still think it hits the right mood.

The suggestion about shading with the purple is a great idea. I've tried to do it in the past, but for some reason I can never get the right shade of purple. What is a good thing to look for wen picking the shade. Mine always looks a little too 'bright' on the eyes or way too dark.

anyway, the update.

thanks,
