Hello all,

Here's my situation, i am doing 3d walkthrough of a building. I have rendered the final textured part fine. Now what i want to do is go back and create an isometric render of the building in wireframe. I have put a wireframe material on to all the object no problem. Next i have attached an object to the camera path and put a self illuminated material on it. The other camera follows this and it is a sort of "you are here" marker in wireframe if you see what i mean.

The only problem is the self illuminated texture is a little bland, i was hoping there was a way to make the material pulse in and out, im sure you cannot assign a controller to it like you could a light?

Thanks in advance,

Ryan

Sorry i should of said, 3dsmax 9!

I know you can create a stoboscopic effect with the curve editor on lights, but im not sure whether you can do anything similar with self illuminated materials

Thanks

Ryan

Sure why not. The easiest way would be using a noise or waveform controller for the mix amount of a blend map for the selfillumination.
It is probably even possible to use a noise or waveform controller to manipulate the color values directly, but they need a point3 value which requires instancing the controller to all values of the SI color somehow(maybe not, I'm not sure about this and can't acces max right now).
So the idea behind the above mentioned method is that the noise or wave form controller blends between black and white, which shuld result in astrobo effect if the settings are tweaked right.

It's a matter of 20 seconds.
