View Full Version : Enveloping Glitch

I already posted this at XSIBase, but since xsi users seem to be spread thin I'll post it here too:

I had this happening sometimes in 5.11, but I get this much more in 6.01 now.

I'm enveloping a character, and suddenly I can't envelope anything anymore. All I get is a "command canceled" at the bottom of the screen when I select " Deform > Envelope > Set Envelope ".
And this error appears in the Script Editor :
" WARNING : 3030-DEFO-SIApplyFlexEnv - Command was cancelled. "

even when I create a new scene with fresh geometry I can't envelope anything , I really have to restart XSI to be able to continue.

What's also weird is that the "busy" mouse cursor seems to be active all the time when this happens, but I only see it when I move the cursor to the corners of the screen.

does this sound familiar to anyone ? I did a little search on the issue and found some other peeps asking the same question, but so far not a single solution or even a reply.

thanks.

reset your keyboard mapping to default and see it if helps.

Thanks, but I'm using the default xsi keymap and have not adjusted anything besides setting the navigation mouse mapping in the preferences to "alternate".

I dont think it's an enveloping glitch, but rather a GUI glitch.

It also happened to me several times, when I tried to <Match Translation> or any other <Match> , but
when in PICK mode, I decided I want to cancel, and not select anything.
XSI doesnt let me <Match XXX> anything anymore, until I restart it, and does give the sand clock Icon
when my mouse cursor is around the top menu. (And it gives an Error message when I try to <match>)

anyway, just thought you might want to know you're not alone :)

hey there,

this sounds like a fishy glich the xsi guyts should look at. I'll keep an eye on this thread so that if gremlin's lurk in my xsi i know what to do...

I've had this problem when I was using my custom keyboard... some alt+W etc.. combinations were suspicious.. but still not sure and cannot recreate it.

This is an old thread, but I thought I would comment in case someone else encounters this problem. Currently I can't use the UI to bind a mesh to a skeleton, instead I have to do it via the command line:

ApplyFlexEnv "body,head;Biped.envelope_group", False, 2

Where 'body' and 'head' are my mesh objects and 'Biped.envelope_group' is the skeleton.
