Lighting huh?... do you guys have any suggestions or? I`ve become somewhat blind to this picture after all the time spent on it. I`ve just jused one spotlight here what else could i do? add a fill light maybe? what do you think?

Everything from the thighs up look great, the rest needs lots of work. It looks like two different characters. As for texturing, the claws on the hands could use a more interesting texture. Maybe a little discolouring, small cracks etc.
Keep it up.

Looks pretty cool.
Maybe a little more definition in the ankles, intead of the tubes.
The feet could be a little bigger also, so it looks a little more stable.
Great start.

well, my main focus was on getting a good looking surface spent only a couple of hours on the modelling part. as for the claws there`s only a gradient colour map for now this will be fixed later (VERY much later, need a break from this project, been diddling with it for nearly2 months on and off)
anyways here`s a little light corretion test, but i think i liked the old ones better , they look more grim and dark

The mough looks a little plastic. Try and make it more glistening with saliva and phlegm :) He/she/it needs drool! I don't know which program you use, but try and use layered highlights (shellac in max). Bottom highlight high gloss and low specularity, the second highlight is tight and strong (high spec., low gloss). This should make it look a little more slimey :)
Didn't see that you said the claw and eye maps were temp in your first post, sory.
Btw, don't stop the modeling. You've got a really good start, only thing it needs are a couple of legs and a little tweaking of the hands.

Hey funkyfoe, yeh i know what you mean about the lighting now, it just seems that the previous pics looked as if he was about to do some stand-up comedy or something :)
if you want a kind of grim/dark impression to the pic.. is it worth setting a volumetric spot above his head so it appears as if it's set in a gloomy cave??? I don't know what i'm talking about....:D
I can understand you want to give it a rest for a while.. i've been working on a model of the Mary Rose for a couple of months and i'm sick to death of it now...

i've moved on to pastures new now.. anyway hope to see updates as and when..

cool beast.
i'll toss in my opinions on the legs, too.
-the sides of the knees should blend into the shin more
- i'd like to see more texture on the shins... more bump, maybe some reddish stripes, too.
-you could always chop the legs off at the knees... huge monster with colossal arms; itty-bitty legs. (heh. i'm just being silly at this point)
