I have tried and tried to get things in the foreground
or background of my scene to be blurry and nothing is
working. I am assuming it is my camera settings.

Is it possible for someont to explain how they get
these really great crisp subject shots while everything
else is blurry. I am really having a tough time with this.

I have tried to use the distance tool to measure
from my subject to my camera lens etc and still
nothing happens. *If you sense frustration you are
correct* plllllssssss help

I don't konw if you are a beginner... But the blurry effect you want is depth of field.

Go on the a|w website to found a free tutorial which explain how to set you camera!

Yep, depth of field is the setting on your camera that you want to play with. Basically you set what you want in focus (you tell your camera what distance to focus on). hint hint. ..use the measuring tool in maya. Select your camera and look for depth of field in it's attributes. On another note. If this is just for a still frame shot. Just render your shot out in 2 or 3 passes, Background, objects you want in focus, and shadows. Then do it in post. (ie. photoshop er something)

Very cool, I like that you can plug the the center of focus
into the focus distance and it takes care of the rest.
It also appears that if you lower the aperature(Fstop)
you get more blurrrrrr. This is going to be fun to play
with. Thanks guys, DOF was something that I had
forgotten about....
