View Full Version : Enzo: Paint dirctly onto 3d models in photoshop
Jocose 04-06-2007, 12:26 AM Has enzo been mentioned here before? I just started using it and while its extremely buggy there is a ton of potential there.
Here is a link : http://www.electriciris.com/
If this has been discussed here at lenth then I aplogizing for multi-posting, but I couldn't find anything about it.
They are in early stages of the release so I am sure feedback would be apreciated.
(btw make sure and create a new material when you import your models for the first time)

Looks really buggy now. And no mac version so not interested.

Yeah I had to uninstall it because it kept crashing. The design is solid however so I will be checking back again in the future.

This is something I would definetly be interested in though if they release a mac version an work the bugs out.

Sounds sweet. I know ILM has something similar called Viewpaint, which is of course sadly proprietary to them.

the new version of photoshop enhanced (or advanced...whatever) has something like this already built in.
What makes this plugin better?

I wasn't aware that the new pshop had any features like that. Do you know any more details?

If so, it is about a time. How many times haven't you sat in a 3D paint program and wished you could just work straight into Photoshop?

I'm still not ENTIRLY sure how these fetures are in the new Photoshop, but it sounds very similar.

The 3D capabilities will only be in Photoshop CS3 Extended, not normal CS3. There is a public beta out for CS3, but for CS3 Extended we'll have to wait until they ship this month (April 2007), with some reports stating April 20th.

CS3's 3D capabilities are incredibly basic. I wouldn't go so far as to describe it as a 3D painting package just yet.

BTW, on the Enzo forum the author gives this (http://www.electriciris.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33) comparison between Enzo and the cheaper but similar Object Painter (http://www.cameleon-labs.com/index.php?page=8):
They are two different types of products.
Enzo allows for painting directly on the 3D model. Object Painter does not.
Enzo allows for painting across UV seams and across 3D objects. Object Painter does not.
Enzo is very tightly integrated into Photoshop.
Enzo lets you create and assign textures.
Enzo supports NURBS models.
There are other workflow features that professional artists in the film and video game industries are accustomed to having which Enzo provides.

I also doubt that you will be able to paint in photoshop directly. From the vids, it looks we are limited to viewing models in real time, but not be able to actually paint on the model itself. ie: paint only on the uvmap itself
