View Full Version : eliminating tris/ngons
formerself 04-06-2007, 12:19 AM i tried searching, but to no avail. are there any tried and true techniques for eliminating tris/ngons. or maybe for turning 3 lines into 2 or 1 without cause triangles. i know there must be some kinda guide out there for this. everytime i do it it really screws with my topology =(

I've found that poly modeling tends to produce quad meshes more naturally. Box modeling starts with topology that doesn't resemble the finished product and which you have to fight for the final result, so you end up with a lot of non-quad polygons that have to be massaged away. But here's some box techniques for cleanup: http://www.deadicated.net/subDModelling_ThePole/
